Photo Friday

A few pictures from the week…

Jeremy captured this beautiful photo of the night sky over our house this week. We were trying to get a glimpse of the Perseid meteor shower. We didn’t see many meteors, but I think being able to capture this photo was worth the time spent outside in the cold. The heavens declare the glory of God!

Goroka is extremely dry right now, the driest it’s been since 1997. Our neighbors are desperate to find water. Some friends dug this hole looking for water. They found some. While we wouldn’t consider this safe to drink, they have few other options.

We’re working on trying to pump water up from the river that’s in the bottom of the valley adjacent to our house. The mountain was completely overgrown with kunai grass, so some of our friends have been clearing the bush in order for us to run a pipe up from the river. It’s a huge job, but they are extremely hard workers. Here’s a portion of the path they’ve cut so far.

Here are the guys who are working on cutting the path. We are so grateful for these men who have helped us tremendously these past few months. Please pray for them, as they are not believers. Jeremy has been spending time with them and discipling them as much as possible. Pray that God will work through our relationship with them to bring them to saving faith.
Our friend, Tom, is pushing a wheelbarrow full of water containers up the mountain to get water for his family.

Jeremy captured this photo on Thursday evening. What beautiful sunsets we have here!
