Photo Friday

The kids just had a four week holiday from school, which brought some welcome rest time for the whole family. We spent a few days away from home in a guest house on the other side of Goroka so that we could have some down time and get some work done without the many interruptions that come from life in the village.

We also completed the manufacturing aspect of the first water filter and will be testing it soon.

Note: We are working on some changes to our blog and our Facebook page. In the coming weeks you will see these changes as they go live. Please go “like” our Sanders Party of Five page on Facebook if you would like to keep up with our ministry.

Olivia and Everett had a great time during their school break. Here they are getting ready to swing on the super cool rope swing that some other missionaries had set up beside the guest house where we stayed for a few days.
Round and round we go…
Right beside the house was a tennis/basketball court. Everyone enjoyed learning about tennis and even played a few games with some local missionaries.
Olivia reaches for the ball.
Everett surprised us a bit with his natural tennis ability. He had never even picked up a racket before, but he was quite good.
One of Everett’s school mates lives near the guest house where we stayed, and they were able to spend lots of time playing together during school break.
When we returned home, we made bread for the upcoming week. These two love to help.
“Momma, we’re going to the river. We’ll be back soon!” I love living in a place where our neighbors look out for us and where the kids can safely explore and have fun with their village friends.
Jeremy and Abel work on getting materials ready for the water filters.
Abel consults the manual and explains to the other guys the process of extracting the filter from the mold.
A lot of manpower was necessary to loosen the mold so that they could get the concrete filter out.
The filter is out of the mold and will cure for seven days before we begin the testing process. We are very excited about the impact these filters could have on our community!
