These Hot November Days…

Jeremy and Sam were blessed to be able to spend several days in Mexico this past week. They left home on Monday afternoon and returned around lunchtime on Thursday. The team ministered in two different villages this time, and were very well received at each. One of the villages was a brand new place for our team to work and has no established church; as a matter of fact, there are very few known Christians. Jeremy was able to use some of the chronological Bible storying which he has learned in class recently to tell the story of creation and the fall, then talked about the consequences of sin, and about the promise that the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent. The people in the village who heard the story were very intrigued, and can’t wait to hear what happens next. When Jeremy’s team goes back to visit in December, they will share more of the story. Until then, we pray that the villagers will begin to search the scriptures and that God will begin to open their hearts to His truth.

Here’s a picture of the team that I snapped right before they left for Mexico on Monday.

Meanwhile, back in Los Fresnos, we welcomed the Sisson family back to the states for their furlough. They arrived on Monday, and the kids and I have been able to spend lots of time with them as they adjust back to life in the West.

Here are the kids outside Bass Pro Shop, where we spent the evening bowling.

The kids are really enjoying the summery weather which still marks our November days here in Los Fresnos. They spend most of their time outside playing in the dirt, climbing trees, building forts, or riding bikes. We are so blessed to have a community full of children, and no one is ever lacking a playmate.

We continue to see God working in our lives and drawing us closer to Him through various blessings and trials which have come our way. We are learning so much about the Lord’s goodness and mercy, and stand in awe of the grace which He has poured out on us. That He would allow our family to experience this life, despite the fact that we have done nothing to deserve such an enormous privilege, is humbling and overwhelming. I pray that we continue to be moldable and teachable as we make plans to take His gospel to the unreached, and as we live life together with our community in Texas.

“Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised.” Psalm 96:1-4a
